Do Rats feel Empathy for one another?
At experiment was held at the University of Chicago to see if rats could have show empathy for one another when in distress. The two rats were placed in a box with one being trapped in a container and the other was freely roaming the box. The students then placed a piece of chocolate in the box to see if the rat would help his companion or eat the chocolate. The rat that was not in the container helped the rat that was in distress, before eating the chocolate that was in the box with them. The rat showed empathy by not eating the chocolate, before helping his companion. Rats are Empathetic.
