US - Mexico Border Wall
The United States Border wall will help improve the nation's security and will keep
America’s economy safer as a whole. The idea of building a border wall between America and
Mexico has been a major controversy between many Republican and Democrats. The
United States government has been shut down for a extended period of time, due to
non-negotiable ideas between each party over the idea of building a wall. The American border
wall has its benefits and drawbacks from both points of view. The major drawback that is seen is
the price of the wall costing an average of twenty-one billion. The major benefit of the wall is to
improve our nation’s security by stopping illegal immigrants from crossing the American border
to the south. The wall would also have major implications during the time of construction due to
its massive size and labor amounts.America first passed the Illegal Immigration Reform in 1996. This reform started to fund fencing and border patrol along the United States and Mexico Border. American now has around seven hundred miles of fencing or blockage that is on the border of Mexico. The total distance of the US-Mexico border is 1,954 miles. Some areas of the border protection include multiple layers of blockage and fencing to slow down illegal immigrants from crossing the border. The rest of the American border is left wide open or is patrolled by border patrol security throughout the day. The idea of building a wall has also been seen with major symbolism and tension. Many argue that the wall symbolizes a safety net between America and Mexico. While others argue that the wall will not stop the illegal immigrants from crossing or will cost America to much money to build. President Trump claims that the wall could be built around as little as 5 billion dollars, where as many Democrats predict the wall costing an average estimate of 70 billion dollars. Many outside sources and agencies predict the wall costing America an average estimate of 21.6 billion dollars.
I believe that the United States border wall should be built between America and Mexico. The border wall will slow down the crossing of many illegal immigrants that cross the border everyday. As the wall decreases the number of illegal immigrants crossing over into the United States, it will eventually pay for itself over a longer period of time. The construction of the wall will also create more jobs in the United States during the construction of the wall. Another reason I believe that the wall is good for America is that many, border patrol officers say that they need a wall to help improve their jobs and to make their jobs safer without the risking of lives of themselves or the illegals. The wall would improve their jobs and create a safer environment for everybody along the border. The wall would also, reduce the amount of drugs and violence that come to America as well.
The Wall has many major drawbacks to it as well. The wall would cost around an average of twenty-one billion dollars. The wall would take a long period of time to construct. Most of the drugs in America, do not come across the border on foot, but by cargo ships at many American ports across the country. America would also have to buy to land from private owners that own some of the land across the border in order to build the wall across. Many also argue that the wall will not stop all of the illegals determined to cross the border, because they will build tunnels and ditches. Many Americans also see the building of the wall to be not morally equal and want the American dream for everybody that comes to America and seeking new opportunities and a new life. This is one of the major morally and ethically right drawbacks of building the wall. The wall has also been predicted to have a major impact on environment economy and habitat, many environmentalists oppose the wall due to this. These are the major drawbacks of building a US-Mexico border wall.
I personally believe that the wall would help improve the nation's security and improve the economy as a whole over a period of time. This is why I believe that the wall should be built. The wall will also come at a large cost to America, but will be worth the cost, because over a long period of time the wall will pay for itself. I also believe that the wall must be built or else President Trump will not be re-elected for his second term in office. The United States Border wall will help improve America’s security and will keep America’s economy and communities safer. The wall has had major drawbacks and benefits predicted by both points of view, and has left many people to have no opinions on the discussion.
